Défi850.org – From grass to flowers: let’s rise to the challenge

Take the challenge: commit to transforming a patch of grass into a biodiversity garden. Every square meter counts — for the bees, the birds, and the future of Nuns’ Island.

🌸 About Défi850

Défi850 is a citizen-led movement launched on Nuns’ Island to transform 850 square meters of lawns and flowerbeds into biodiversity gardens.

We believe it’s possible to have spaces for children and spaces for nature — places where play, joy, and wildlife coexist in harmony. While children will soon enjoy a new field to play and have fun, we’ll give back an equivalent space elsewhere on the island to biodiversity.

We are 21,000 residents on the island, surrounded by millions of insects, birds, butterflies, and small creatures who share this territory with us. By planting native flowers, we offer them food, shelter, and living corridors — and in return, we rediscover beauty: hummingbirds passing by, butterflies dancing, and birdsong filling our days.

Défi850 is an invitation to create a place where nature and community grow side by side. Every square meter counts — for them, for us, and for the future we want to offer our children.
